Beliefs
God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:
God has been revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God loves and cares for all.
God the Father created all of the creation and created humanity in His own image.
Jesus, the Son of God, took on flesh, lived a perfect life, and sacrificially died on a cross to pay the penalty for our sin. This was a pure act of love and amazing grace.
The Holy Spirit was sent by God to live in and transform the lives of believers so that we can turn from a sinful life and be empowered to live the fully human and fully free life that God intended for us to live from the beginning so that we can honor and glorify God.
The Bible:
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority for faith and practice.
Sin and Salvation:
Sin is real and since the first human beings, Adam and Eve, sin has created a separation between us and God. Sin keeps us from living the fully human and fully alive life God intended for us to live.
The only way to not be separated from God and find freedom in salvation is by believing in Jesus Christ and trusting in Him as Lord and Savior. This is not just a momentary decision, but it’s a lifelong journey to live into the relationship God longs to have with you.
God will come one day to judge the world and to make all things new!
The Church:
The Church is not a building, but rather it is the bride of Christ, a spiritual body made up of all believers, each of whom God longs to use as part of God’s plan to reconcile the World to Himself.
God has given us two gifts, called Sacraments, to practice together in Christian Community. The two sacraments are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Creeds and Confessions:
We are thankful as a church that we are not alone in this journey of faith. Many Saints have gone before us and have left us gifts to help us better understand the Bible and our Christian faith. If you would like to read the creeds and confessions we hold to, see the Apostle's Creed, Nicene Creed, Athanasian Creed, The Belgic Confession, The Heidelberg Catechism, The Canons of Dort, and The Belhar Confession.
Mission and Values
Our Mission
To Know Christ and Make Christ Known
Our Values
Wholeness in Christ
“God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” (Eph. 1:22-23)
We orient all of our teaching, preaching, and ministries to proclaim and foster holistic health and vitality in Christ.
Overflowing Generosity
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”(Luke 6:38)
We are blessed to be a church with significant resources, and are committed to teaching biblical/generous giving to the church (time, talent, and treasure), and generous/wise stewardship from the church.
Intergenerational Church
“One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” (Ps. 145:4)
An intergenerational church is one in which there is a marked emphasis to not only draw people of different ages but to learn from one another and grow stronger together.
Contributing to Community
“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7)
We are a community church and play a vital role in serving people, groups, and organizations in our area.
Missions Investment
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts1:8)
Glen Lake Church is blessed to enjoy deep partnerships with a variety of ministries, missions, and missionaries – in our community and to the ends of the earth. Please see the Ministries and Mission Partners pages to learn more.
